Many factors can affect an individual’s ability and confidence to maintain or return to meaningful work after experiencing physical and/or mental health concerns. At Re:Function Health Group Inc., we can provide each client with holistic support services that recognize the connection between physical health and mental wellness. Along with our extensive suite of physical health services, Re:Function also offers clinical counselling services that can help clients explore, reduce or eliminate the barriers they may be experiencing to achieving their career and life goals. Together with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (R.C.C.), clients can thoroughly explore their thoughts and process emotions in order to better identify their needs and ultimately, make the behavioural changes they need to move forward with confidence. Each counselling session is 50 minutes long.

Kinesiologists work closely with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Counsellors to create exercise based programs tailored to each individual’s needs. These customized programs include serial functional testing, specific exercise prescription, relevant work simulation tasks, and return to work assistance, as needed. Kinesiologists can assist clients with physical and cognitive disabilities in one of our clinics or in the community, using close to home fitness facilities.


Occupational Therapy

Doug has extensive experience in outpatient orthopaedics and sports physiotherapy. He is the creator of VRysio, a rehabilitation program which utilizes virtual reality technologies to make physiotherapy fun as well as provide state of the art treatment. He has a MSc and PhD in biomechanics and has presented his work internationally and published in peer reviewed scientific journals.

In addition to his academic work, Doug has extensive postgraduate clinical training. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy and has completed the Certificate of the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. Senior Registered Occupational Therapist

Edgar has a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and he is a Certified Work Capacity Evaluator (Roy Matheson and Associates). His current practice encompasses medical legal consultations, including Functional Capacity Evaluations, Cost of Future Care Assessments, and File Reviews.

Edgar strives to maintain a balance between referrals from both Plaintiff and Defense counsels. He has qualified as an Expert Witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia in the areas of Functional Capacity Evaluation, Work Capacity Evaluation, Cost of Future Care Analysis, Functional Analysis, Occupational Therapy and Ergonomics.

Linda believes that each individual has the resiliency to overcome life’s greatest challenges and would like to support clients to improve their mental wellness and live a fulfilling life. As someone who has been injured and transitioned back to work, she saw the meaningful impact of counselling in her own life and would like to provide the same compassionate care to those seeking support.

Linda has worked in various counselling roles to support people with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and career concerns. She began her career volunteering at the Fraser Health Crisis Line for three years, supporting distressed callers in crisis. Linda completed her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology in 2022. Once she graduated, she began working as an Employment Counsellor, where she supported individuals with their career development and managing injuries or disabilities that impacted their ability to work. She has also supported young adults who experience mild to moderate anxiety as a Group Facilitator for the Y Mind program. In her current role, Linda applies her clinical skills to identifying the psychosocial factors that impact an individuals’ return to work, supporting clients to develop skills to reduce their anxiety and depressive symptoms, and helping them successfully make a graduated return to work. Linda works from a person-centred, trauma-informed practice with techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Outside of work, Linda is an avid reader and enjoys baking cookies, practicing yoga, and hiking with her friends.

Nika graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a concentration in active rehabilitation. She is a member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiology (BCAK).

Throughout high school she competed in many sports at the provincial level including soccer, volleyball, track & field, and swimming. Fitness and rehabilitation have remained an important part in her life, and she expands her knowledge base constantly.
